Mexico donates ambulances to Lebanese Red Cross
Posted on: 8/7/2007 10:43:00 AM
The Mexican government contributed two ambulances to the Lebanese Red Cross in an attempt to improve the efficiency of ambulance service in the Spears and Tabaris centers in Beirut. The two vans were handed over in a ceremony held at the ambulance and emergency head center in Baabda. The ceremony was attended by Mexico's Ambassador to Lebanon Arturo Puente and president of the Lebanese Red Cross Society Sami al Dahdah. Puente said the embassy had recognized the suffering Lebanese citizens had endured during last summer's war by witnessing the suffering of its own nationals evacuated from Lebanon during the conflict. "The Mexican government chose the Red Cross to be the channel through which it could make its humanitarian contribution," he said. Dahdah thanked the Mexican government for the contribution, which, he said, signifies the deep historical relations between the two countries. (Daily Star)
