GTZ Reequips Public Vocational and Technical Schools
Posted on: 1/16/2008 11:36:00 AM

The German Government was asked by the Lebanese Government to help equipping 35 public technical and vocational schools damaged directly by the war of summer 2006 or indirectly by sheltering internally displaced people coming from all over the country. A donation of €0,65 Million was allocated to that end as part of a €5 Million donation dedicated for the extension of the German Agency for Technical Cooperation (GTZ) program within the vocational and technical education "Promotion of Technical and Vocational Education and Training and SME development in Lebanon”.
Equipment and tools in the field of car mechanics, industrial mechanics, electro-technics, nursing, carpentry and hotel management were channeled through GTZ with the help of the Dual-System team within the Directorate General for Vocational and Technical Education at the Lebanese Ministry of Education, and the engineers of the technical department within this Directorate.
Training sessions on using the different equipment took place in the different schools, different workshops were rehabilitated (such as the workshop of industrial mechanics in Saida) and 6 welding laboratories were constructed and equipped. (GTZ)
